OneNeurology WHA Side Event: Bridging Neurology and NCDs: An Integrated Approach to IGAP Implementation

You are invited to attend the OneNeurology WHA Side Event:

Bridging Neurology and NCDs: An Integrated Approach to IGAP Implementation

Tuesday, 20th May 2025 | 18:00 – 20:00 CET
Hotel N’vY, 18 rue de Richemont, 1202 Geneva

This event will mark the launch of our new Policy Paper, developed ahead of the 2025 UN High-Level Meeting on the Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and Mental Health:
‘Ensuring Neurological Conditions are a Distinct Pillar in the NCD Response’

The paper sets out our key asks to Member States and stakeholders to ensure that neurological conditions are fully integrated into the NCD response:

  • Name neurological conditions as a priority NCD in the Political Declaration, with dedicated visibility across targets and monitoring.
  • Translate that recognition into action, through political commitment, funding, and implementation of the WHO IGAP as part of NCD and UHC strategies.
  • Work with the neurology community — including people with lived experience —
to shape policies that are practical, inclusive, and rights-based.

Speakers on the evening will include Tarun Dua (Unit Head, Brain Health, WHO), providing insight into global initiatives and frameworks for brain health, and Joanna Laurson-Doube (Policy & Advocacy – Care, NCD Alliance) reflecting on the positioning of neurology within the global NCD agenda.

There will also be focused interventions from the stroke and Alzheimer’s disease communities, showcasing how these conditions illustrate the challenges and opportunities for prevention, delay, treatment, and care.

Registration is essential. Please register here by Tuesday, 13th May.
