Musculoskeletal pain is extremely common and when severe, patients often gain significant benefit from joint replacements. However, until our patients reach the point where surgery is an option, our efforts to help patients with the chronic joint pain often leave much to be desired. A relatively new treatment approach has appeared in the past decade, musculoskeletal regenerative medicine. But does the research back up the numerous claims of benefit? This podcast will review the current treatment options available and future potential of regenerative medicine for musculoskeletal problems with Dr. Shane Shapiro, a sports medicine physician in the Department of Orthopedics at the Mayo Clinic.
